Safe Exit Solutions conducted controlled practical research to investigate emergency rescue access challenges associated with protected-vehicle transparent armour, including equipment performance, responder hazards, and casualty-protection considerations.

Armoured and protected vehicles present rescue challenges rarely encountered during conventional vehicle extrication.
As part of our ongoing research into these challenges, Safe Exit Solutions recently conducted a controlled practical trial examining emergency casualty access through approximately 40 mm ballistic glazing.
Using portable battery-powered rescue equipment, a usable rescue-access aperture was achieved in approximately four minutes.
The trial demonstrated that rapid access through heavy ballistic glazing is achievable, while also identifying important operational considerations surrounding airborne particulate, casualty protection, operator safety and dust management.
The results will inform further testing and the development of practical rescue procedures for armoured and protected vehicles.
